Countries: Hong Kong, an ABU member country.

Hong Kong is one of the countries that launched the ABU Song Festivals in 2012, participating in every edition of the ABU TV Song Festival ever since. This little region of the People's republic with a high cultural and echonomical power is known by the music fans and the ABU fans by its vibrant music scene.


TVB (Television Broadcasts Limited) is a Hong Kong broadcasting company which is member of the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union. This broadcaster was founded in 1967 being one of the first private broadcasting entities in the region, and also one of the strongest ones. This company is known for is programming and for its production of TV series, and a wide range of programs.
TVB has also been sending every year a delegation to the ABU TV Song Festival since their debut in 2012, sending some of their most famous cantopop acts.

Entertainment industry

Hong Kong is known in all China but also in Asia, by its consolidated entertainment industry whith artists that have become known, not only in the chinese speaking areas but also in all Asia. The Cantopop culture started rising in the 1950's, since then this industry faced a gold era from the 1970's to the end of the 1990's. Although the style has been facing a decline due to the rise of the pop music in mandarin dialect, Cantopop remains as the most popular genere in Hong Kong.

Venues.

Hong Kong as a very big city has got some important music halls that could be suitable venues for the ABU TV Song Festival or the ABU Radio Song Festival. One of those centres is the Hong Kong Convention and exhibition centre which has hosted many important events in the region.
