Countries: Bangladesh, an ABU member country.

Bangladesh is a little but populous country located in southern Asia, in the Bengal Goulf. It borders with the neighbouring countries of India and Myanmar. The bengali language is the state language of the country, whose population is mainly muslim. Bangladesh has never intended to take part in any of the ABU Song Festivals.

National Broadcaster.

BTV is the state owned broadcaster of Bangladesh. The network started broadcasting as Pakistan TV, when the country was known as Eastern Pakistan. Some years later, in 1971, the newly independent country changed its name to Banglades, and as a result, the name of the national broadcaster was also changed.

The Dhaka based TV station started broadcasting in full color in 1980. Since then, BTV has produced many shows, some of them frequently awarded. This network which also has also created some regional TV stations, has also licenced some western films and TV dramas.

BTV has never taken part in any of the ABU Song Festivals.

Entertainment industry.

The bangladeshi pop music has seen a great evolution thanks to the western influence in the recording industry. Just like in India, the Bangla-pop is usually linked to the cinema industry, with some song being really famous thanks to that. Playback singers have been very popular in the bengali language music, but some others have turned into famous performers out of the film industry.

Below, form left to right. Some bangladeshi singers that could be elegible to represent their country in the ABU TV Song Festival.

ABU Song Festival future.

Bangladesh has not debuted in the ABU TV Song Festival or in the ABU Radio Song Festival, but thanks to BTV's membership of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, this country would be elegible to take part in both events in the near future.

Venues.

If the Bangladeshi state broadcaster was interested in hosting the ABU TV Song Festival, or the ABU Radio Song Festival, the Bangabandhu Convention Centre, which is located in Dhaka, is one of the most important concert halls of the country with a seat capacity for 1600 viewers.

If the ABU TV Song Festival, turned into a song competition, and consequently a bigger and massive event, the Dhanmondi Indoor Basketball Stadium would be the perfect choice to host the event.
