The music lovers usually know the music of this country thanks to its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest from 1975, to 2012, and in the Turkvision song contest from 2013 onawards.
TRT, the state broadcaster of Turkey has previously organised events like these before.
In 2004, Istambul was the city, were the Eurovision Song Contest was celebrated, after the victory of the country, the previous year. That edition of the contest is one of the most successful to date. An edition which is well known because of the creation of the semifinals due to the high number of participating contries.
Nine years afther their successful organisation, the same broadcaster organised the first edition of the Türkvision song contest, a song competition which aims to promote the cultural and musical ties of the turkic speaking contries and autonomous regions.
In 2015, the same city that hosted the ESC before, will organise the ABU TV Song Festival 2015. A contest that despite being a non competitive event, It showcases the songs of some of the most famous singers and groups from the Asia-Pacific region.
There have been rumors that indicated that in the next years, the ATSF could turn into a competition, but there are no further news about that move.
The venue for the ABU TV Song Festival, has not been revealed yet, but Istanbul has got many concert halls that could be used as venues for the event.
For example, the Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall, would be a suitable option to host the ATSF.
Another possible venue would be the Mydonose showland which was initially proposed as the venue for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004.
