Countries: Mongolia, an ABU member country

Mongolia is a central asian country located between Russia and China. This country is one of the leass populated places in the world with only two million of people. Its capital city is Ulaanbaatar, where more than half of Mongolia's population lives.

This contry tried to participate in the ABU TV Song Festival 2012, but later withdrew from the show and never tried again to take part.

National Broadcaster

The mongolian state televison and radio network is the MNB (Mongolian National Broadcaster). This TV Station was launched in 1967. Firstly all the programs of the MNB were live, but from the 1980's to this decade, the network has been improoving the quality of the the programs.
The Broadcaster turned into a full member of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union in 1997, and started cooperating internationally with other members of the union, with the exchange of material with some of the most powerful asian broadcasters such as KBS and NHK.

Entertainment Industry.

Mongolia has developed a booming entertainment industry and its own brand of pop music. In fact, this contry has got many record labels and artists whose quality is comparable to K-pop or J-Pop. Many people would agree that sometimes, the M-pop can sound, even better.
Although the M-Pop industry is totally centralised in Ulaanbaatar, and highly influenced by the korean, japanese, russian, and western pop music, Mongolia has been able to create its own distict pop sound, different from the rest of the asian coutries.

The rise of M-pop has been slow but steady. In 1999, one of the private broadcasting companies of the country started the UBS Music Video Awards, an annual gala which recognises the talent of the M-pop and rock singers. Since then, this gala has turned into one of the most viewed and respected events of the country.

ABU Song Festival future.

The MNB tried to send an entry to the ABU TV Song Festival 2012 in Seoul, but in the end, the broadcaster refused to take part in the first edition of the show. Anyway, this fact, makes possible that this country could debut in any of the ABU Song Festivals in the near future. It's obvious that this country has got all the musical potential to interest the audience, and this country could perfectly win the contest if it turned into a competitive event.

Venues.

The Central Cultural Palace would be a suitable venue to host the ABU TV Song Festival, or the ABU Radio Song Festival. Although is difficult to find information available about the number of seats and other details, It must be mentioned that this convention centre has been used to host the UBS Music Video Awards, which means that it must have over 1.000 seats.

In case that the ABU TV Song Festival started gaining fans and followers, the recently built Buyant Ukhaa sports complex would be a good alternative.
