Countries: Kyrgyzstan. An ABU member country

Kyrgyzstan is a small contry located in Central Asia which limits with China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. The capital city is Bishkek, which is also the biggest city. This country has a population of five million people.


The Kyrgyz Public Radio and Television Corporation is a company which before 1991 used to be part of the soviet broadcasting network. The Radio station which was headquartered in Bishkek was launched in 1931. Some years later in 1958, the company started its TV broadcasts. In 1991, this company turned into the state broadcaster of the independent Kyrgyzstan.

Entertainment Industry.

The pop music in kyrgyz language started its rise after the independence of the country in 1991. Since then, the local music scene has been growing with some difficulties due to the strong influnece of the russian music among the musical trends. Anyway in the 2000, some famous singers started turning the KG-Pop into the most listened music style in the country.

This country is known among the music listeners for taking part in the Turkvision song contest, which is a musical competition between singers from the turkic speaking countries and autonomous regions.

Kyrgyzstan has taken part only once in the ABU TV Song Festival. The national broadcaster participated in the second edition of the show, which took place in Hanoi, the vietnamese capital city.

2013: Tola Tursunaliev - Enekme

Kyrgyzstan in the ABU Radio Song Festival.

Kyrgyzstan took part only, in the first edition of the ABU Radio Song Festival 2012. Which unlike its TV counterpart is only focused on unsigned and unknown musicians. This show, took place in Seoul, the South Korean capital.

Venues.


The Kyrgyzstan state philarmonic could be a suitable venue if Kyrgyzstan was interested in hosting the ABU TV Song Festival or the ABU Radio Song Festival.
