The Maldives is a country located in the middle of the Indic Ocean. The capital city of the country is Male, which is also the biggest city in all the country, and where more than a quarter of the population of all the islands lives. Dhivehi is the state language of the country, which is understood by almost all of the population.
National Broadcaster.
MBC (Maldives Broadcasting Corporation), Innitally known as TVM (Television Maldives), is the national broadcaster of the Maldives, which was launched in 1978. At first, the programming of the network consisted in news reports, but then, the programming started expanding to entertainment shows. In 2010, the broadcaster was renamed as MBC, its current name.
Entertainment Industry.
The maldivian music industry has been developing quickly, since the mid 1990's. National labels and singer have appeared in the recent years. Some of them have managed to enter in the indian music market thanks to the film industry.
Reallity shows have also influenced the rise of the maldivian pop music, such as The voice, among others.

Venues.
In order to host the ABU TV Song Festival or the ABU Radio Song Festival, the Equatorial Convention Centre, which is located in Addu City, the second largest city in Maldives, would be the perfect choice for the event. It has got a seat capacity for over 1.000 viewers.
