ABU Asia-Pacific Song Contest to be held in Sichuan

Sichuan, a province of Central China has been revealed as the next host place of the ABU Asia-Pacific Song Contest, which will be the first ABU competitive festival since 1991.
The name of the city has neither been revealed but Chengdu, the capital and biggest city of the Sichuan province might be the host city
This event is spected to take place on October 2017 as part of the ABU General Assembly. The exact date has not been revealed.

Hunan TV which is the broadcaster that is behind this competitive event has shown more interest to turn the ABU TV Song Festival into a competitive show. In fact, this entity has broadcasted the Eurovision Song Contest to the Chinese audiences in the last years. It's expected that this organisation will cooperate with other Chinese TV stations such as Sichuan TV and CCTV (China Central Television) in order to organise and broadcast the event.



Sichuan TV which also has got a long tradition in event organisation, was the responsible of the Chinese participation this year in the ABU TV Song Festival. CCTV was responsible of the previous chinese entries in the same event from 2012 to 2016.

ABU Asia-Pacific Song Contest will be the first pan-Asian song contest since 1991.
